The Importance of Using The Right Microphone

At LHV Audio, our “favorite” microphone is always the one that best serves the project. Every voice is different, and microphones respond differently to tone, texture, dynamics, and delivery. A mic that flatters one performer might work against another. Add in the demands of the project — whether it’s broadcast, film, audiobook, commercial, or podcast — and the right choice becomes even more nuanced.

We consider the talent’s voice, the emotional intent of the performance, the recording environment, and how the audio will ultimately be used. The goal isn’t to showcase a particular piece of gear; it’s to capture a performance that feels natural, engaging, and true to the story being told.

Just like a great mix, great audio starts with thoughtful decisions. When the right microphone is paired with the right voice and the right project, everything else falls into place.
